Sullivan Responds to Lt. Governor's Efforts to Remove Him from Ballot
Candidate raises concerns about political interference and calls on Alaskans to defend voter choice.

‍ ‍

Petersburg, Alaska — June 11, 2026 — I am disappointed by the actions taken by Lieutenant Governor Dahlstrom and the message they send to Alaska voters.

The Lieutenant Governor's job is to oversee elections fairly and impartially. Instead, her actions create the impression that the state government is being used to protect an incumbent senator from facing competition at the ballot box. That's not how elections should work.

I am a qualified candidate who followed the rules and filed to run for office under my legal name. Yet, unsupported accusations have been given credibility while political operatives continue their effort to keep me off the ballot. Alaskans have every reason to ask whether this process is being driven by politics rather than by a fair application of the law.

The people of Alaska are fully capable of deciding for themselves who should represent them in Washington. If Senator Sullivan believes he has served Alaska well during his twelve years in office, he should make that case directly to voters. He should not rely on government officials or legal maneuvers to limit who can challenge him.

This issue goes beyond my campaign and should matter to every Alaskan, regardless of political party. I encourage Alaskans who believe in fair elections to contact the Division of Elections and the Lieutenant Governor's office and make their voices heard. In a democracy, elections belong to the people, and voters should decide who can serve, not politicians or government officials.

Dan Sullivan Challenges Dan Sullivan for U.S. Senate Seat
Urges Alaskans to defeat incumbent, elect a Sullivan who Stands up for Alaska

‍ ‍

Alaska — Today, Dan Sullivan officially filed his candidacy for the United States Senate, launching a campaign focused on unseating the incumbent, putting Alaska first, and restoring accountability, common sense, and public service to Washington, D.C.

"For too long, Senator Sullivan has failed to put Alaska first," Dan Sullivan said. "When you truly care about a people and a place, you have a duty to make every sacrifice within your power to protect them. That's why I'm running."

Sullivan grew up in a large Catholic family as the second oldest of six children. His parents, Dan and Katherine Sullivan, instilled traditional American values, a strong work ethic, personal responsibility, and a commitment to serving others, which are principles that continue to guide him today and principles he has found lacking in current leadership.

Sullivan began working at a young age and spent decades earning a living through blue-collar jobs and industries, including logging, construction, steel mills, teaching, bartending, and forestry. Those experiences shaped his understanding of the challenges facing working families and gave him a deep appreciation for the value of hard work and self-reliance.

"Too many politicians like Senator Sullivan are focused on themselves instead of the people they were elected to serve," Sullivan said. "I know firsthand the challenges everyday Alaskans face, and I know that Ohio Dan doesn’t get it - he was born on third base and thinks he hit a home run. It’s time for Alaska to elect a Sullivan that’s on their side.”

Sullivan built his career and home in Petersburg. After working his way through college and earning a degree in forestry technology, Sullivan moved to Southeast to work with the U.S. Forest Service in surveying, timber management, and timber sale administration. Over time, he became increasingly frustrated with what he saw as federal inefficiency and a lack of long-term thinking in government.

Inspired by the impact that teachers and mentors can have on young people, Sullivan returned to school, earned a degree in education, and began a second career as an elementary school teacher.

A cancer survivor, Sullivan says his life experiences have reinforced the importance of resilience, gratitude, family, and community. Outside of work and public service, he enjoys hiking, hunting, fishing, music, and the independence that comes from living close to the land.

As Alaska's next U.S. Senator, Sullivan says he will focus on delivering the kind of radical, transformative change needed to get Alaska back on track

"We deserve a Senator who answers the phone, listens to the people, and puts Alaska first every single day," Sullivan said. "That's the commitment I'm making to the people of this state, and together, we’re going to elect a Sullivan that actually stands up for Alaska."
